Hi, I am a writer. But since I am posting on the writing blog, I guess you kind of figure that. My question is this: I have been writing a story for a while, and I really like it, but a few days ago I came up with a complex story plot like no other story I have created before. Please email me or post on my blog at http://writingpaws.blogspot.com which is new so there is not much.

Hi Writing Paws, did you have a specific question about your plot?

Not about my plot, just opinion. Would you leave your other story behind because you have come up with a different, better plot?

Writing Paws ... where is your passion? If your passion is for the new idea, then GO for it. Often the new ideas take is in places we never dreamed. Try it. Go for it.

Sometimes I'll get a new idea and it will build excitement. And sometimes it helps to lay that old idea down--to give myself space.

So I would say, yes .. try it!

Hi. I can't believe that I am writing this, but I thought why not. I am not a writer. At least that has not been my life's passion. I've always enjoyed writing and know that God has given me some talent. However, I never grew up definitely knowing or striving to be an author. Although writing a book was one of my life goals. Anyways, lately the idea of writing won't leave my mind. I think it's because I just started blogging and have enjoyed it so much. I have no desire (or talent for writing fiction), however I can not stop thinking about writing non fiction. I am a mom of 3 and soon to be 4...I always have life lessons to share.

Anyways, my question is this. It seems that most writers that I've been reading about have always had that as their passion. Does God intend for me to write without always instilling that passion in me? Secondly, I have no idea what to write. I have plenty of devotional, short articles and aha moments that I could share...but writing an entire book seems beyond me. Should I even pursue this at all? I just can not get the idea out of my heart that God may want to use me to encourage other moms.

Sorry for the rambling. I've always been good at that.

Billie,

I never planned on being a writer. In fact, I never even thought about it until I was pregnant with my 3rd child, yet I always enjoyed reading.

Also, I would say that you should keep writing what you enjoy. I wouldn't even think about a book until you feel a passion to write it. It takes a lot of time, of study, of work.

Still, keep it in your mind, pray about it, and see where it leads. Until then, enjoy blogging! It's an awesome start!

Hi, it's writing paws again, with another question. Do you know of any sites where people can read my writing and give suggestions/ratings? Thanks.

For fiction, I know ACFW has on-line critique groups. www.acfw.com

I'm not sure about non-fiction.

Also, have you considered attending a writers conference? Most have staff critiques. I'd highly recommend the Mt. Hermon Christian Writers Conference.
