Fingerprints...

My friend Maryiln Rockett sent this great quote to me:

This is a quote by my friend Jill Novak, author of Gift of Family Writing - and a magazine with her daughter The Girlhood Home Companion.

Jill says, “Your unique writing voice is as individual as your fingerprint.”

Jill’s quote (said at a workshop she gave) reminded me that my writing doesn’t have to be like anyone else’s writing. It is how God has wired me to say certain things, and no one else can or will say them exactly the way I do.

I don’t have to compare myself to others. I just have to work at writing with excellence in my own style.

How freeing that is!!

Precious thoughts. I can't agree more. We experience different events and are shaped as differently as the snowflakes. God created us each in our own special way and therefore, it only makes sense that He would inspire our writing differently also.
Have a blessed weekend everyone!

Well, I have completed a goal. I am into Chapter 7 of my rough draft. Another goal, get myself more legal tablets and a journal that is easier to carry around, done. Yet another goal, remember b-day present for great-nephew. Check. Yipee! And of all the things that has been so wonderful this week, I have made new friends and studied my Bible regularly. Yee Haw! Think I have been staying accountable as Tricia hoped we would on My Writing Mentor.
Thank you Christine.

That's terrific, Jen!!! You just reminded me that I actually have not been reading my Bible because I'm getting up early to write, so I have to be sure to find another time to do that. But... I have been getting up by 6 a.m. every morning to work on my book. That is nothing short of a miracle because I am not a morning person at all. I agree that this is really helping me stay accountable.

PS I am going to put this quote from Jill Novak up on a card in my office as a reminder of my uniqueness as a writer. This was a very relevant article for me!
